Before You Register
If you don't need instructions, simply install this certificate. And then go to the registration page.
All personal data, including logins, are transmitted using a secure connection. To protect your data transmission, you will need to download and install our certificate authority. For more information see these security notes.
Instructions
The installation process depend on your system and browser:
Firefox
- When you click the cert's link, you will be presented with a dialog box that tells you exactly what is happening: "You have been asked to trust a new Certificate Authority"
- Click the "view" button to see the details of the certificate (a good habit to be in).
- You can verify the fingerprints against those included at the bottom of this page.
- Click "close."
- If you are satisfied, check the box marked "Trust this CA to identify web sites." and click "OK."

Internet Explorer
- When you click the cert's link, you will be presented with a dialog box that gives you a choice between saving and opening. Choose "Open."
- Click the "view" button to see the details of the certificate (a good habit to be in).
- You can verify the fingerprints against those included at the bottom of this page.
- If you are satisfied, Select "Install" the certificate.
- Then click "OK."

Safari
- When you click the cert's link, the file will be downloaded to your download folder (or Desktop).
- Double click on the file. It will be opened in Keychain Access.
- A dialog asking "Do you want to add the certicate(s) from the file "thoughCrimeAuthority.crt" to a keychain?"
- Click the "View Certificates" button to see the details of the certificate (a good habit to be in) – you may have to click the arrow labeled "Details."
- You can verify the fingerprints against those included at the bottom of this page.
- Click "OK."
- If you are satisfied, select the "Login" Keychain and click "OK."
- Click on "Certificates" in the left hand menu and double click the item named "ca.thoughtcrime.doesntexist.org"
- Scroll to the Trust Settings and change "When using this certificate" to "Always Trust." You may be asked for your password.
- Close the window and quit Keychain Access.
